Aintree & Cheltenham - Great Event Launches, But Changes Ahead!
Following the successful launch of two new events, there are some changes to the Antiques, Collectors, 20th Century & Art Deco Fairs at Aintree & Cheltenham Racecourses. “After reviews and consultations with dealers and the public alike, we have taken the decision to adjust the format of these fairs, to ensure they meet the requirements of dealers and the expectations of the public.” Commented Peter Barrows, Chairman of Nelson Events ltd, the organisers. “The Equestrian Centre at Aintree Racecourse is an ideal place to hold our type of events” Barrows added, “however, we have received feedback that holding a two day event in this region excludes a lot of dealers who would liked to have taken space. With this in mind, we are changing this event to a one day, Sunday only, format. We attracted a lot of dealers from across the UK, however, those from the South of England and Scotland commented that, whilst the space costs were reasonable, the additional business costs, such as fuel, accommodation, meals etc are becoming more important when making decisions on which fairs to attend. With this adjustment, we hope to re-attract all previous attendees and a larger percentage of local dealers.” Paul Kelly, Operations Director, continued “At Cheltenham, the response was even more encouraging. We sold out of dealer space and saw a great volume of visitors, however, the site also holds a weekly car boot sale, which is one of the biggest in the region. Unfortunately, we were not informed about this until just before our fair and the logistics and traffic management supplied were inadequate to handle the volume of vehicles. This would have had a detrimental effect on public attendance, which, whist strong, did not reflect the advertising and marketing effort we made. Therefore, to avoid any future issues, we are making this fair a Saturday event.” Kelly continued “It is imperative that we meet the demands of both our dealers and visitors and it is important that we listen to them and react to their views and feedback. Whilst we appreciate that these changes may cause an inconvenience to some, they are made with their best interests in mind and the success of each event as our priority.” The next fairs at Aintree Racecourse are now on Sunday 19th June and Sunday 4th September. The next event at Cheltenham Racecourse is on Saturday 6th August. |
